Please reach out with any questions to me or any of your CTE teachers. The scholarships vary in amount each year but in general 5 to 8 scholarships are offered and often are $2,000 to $3,000.

9th Grade CCR Meeting with Ms. Strate

GCHS 9th grade Students, Parents/Guardians,

My name is Ms. Strate and I am the new school counselor for the 7th-9th grade students. Each year students and their parents/guardians meet with the school counselor for a college and career readiness (CCR) meeting. The purpose of a CCR meeting is to talk about and set a plan for your student’s future high school, college, and career goals.

The main focus of this meeting in 9th grade is to prepare students for their 10th grade year. During this meeting we will check in on graduation progress and work to request potential classes your student may be interested in taking during sophomore year of high school.

Each meeting will be about 45 minutes long. It is highly recommended that parents/guardians are a part of these meetings so you can be aware of what classes your student needs to be taking to graduate from high school and what classes they can potentially take their sophomore year.

Please use the attached scheduler to make an appointment. Appointments are available during the week from Monday-Wednesday starting on March 9th. You are cordially invited to attend your High School Junior’s College and Career Readiness meeting. Mr. Cook prefers to meet with all Juniors during to ensure that they have the best opportunity for a successful senior year.
At this time, we will:
Check your child’s credit evaluation and ensure that he/she is on track to graduate.
Set up classes for senior year. Look at Career Pathways and discuss post High School options.
Preparation for Post-Secondary Education Appointme Ants are available January 20th – February 13, Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. – 2 p. m.

SCHEDULES ARE LIVE - CLASS CHANGE REQUEST PROCESS

Hello GCHS Parents/Guardians and Students,
Please review your student's schedule for the 25-26 school year. If a class change is
desired, you may request an opportunity to look at dropping an undesired class for
another option through the Class Change Request Form. In the Class Change Request
form, you will identify the undesired class identifying the period and Semester/Quarter.
We will review your request and email or call you with options in lieu of the undesired
classes. (If there are any good options). In many cases, once students see their options
they opt to stay with the class on their schedule. Please respond by email to this email/phone
call with your election.
**Class Change Requests should happen at least 1 week prior to the beginning of the
school year. Information for the Class Change Request form will be provided at the end
of this message.
**Once Semester 1/Quarter 1 has started, students will be charged $10 per class change
and an ADD/DROP form must be used to get permission from the Teacher to enter any
new class.
Be advised that this year Secondary Math 1, Secondary Math 2 and Secondary Math 3
are year-round courses. Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Anatomy &
Physiology and all AP classes are 3 quarters. All other typical year classes such as
English, Geography, US History etc. will be a Semester/2 Quarters.
