Trade/Tech Scholarship 

 

Requirements for Trade/Tech Scholarship 

 

Criteria for eligibility:

MANDATORY Qualifications:

  • Senior
  • Pathway completer (does not necessarily need to match the program area you intend to study after HS). See Derrick Cook in counseling if you have questions.
  • Name of the institution that you intend to attend, proof that you are accepted  in this institution, it must be an accredited post secondary school or training institution/program, trade/tech field you intend to study at and when you plan to attend.
  • Demonstration of quality of work in your pathway via your Student Portfolio on Google Sites. You will be submitting your Student Portfolio and may be chosen to be interviewed by a committee.
  • Anyone who makes it to the interview process will need to be present at Senior Night on May 21, 2025 where the winners will be announced.

 

What you need to have in your Portfolio submission:

  • Homepage
    • About me section
    • Three Goals
    • Personalize it
  • Internship Page or an Information page highlighting the Career Pathway you completed
    • This should include a resume
    • Letters of recommendation: Preferably one from your internship supervisor or your teacher in that career field, or one from a current supervisor or boss, etc.
    • Your plan for the future 
    • Graphics are very helpful
  • Page(s) to highlight other CTE classes you’ve taken (not required)
  • Any additional pages you would like to include that will help the committee know and understand your accomplishments in HS and your plans for the future. Such as extracurricular activities like Band, FCCLA, DECA, Sports, Drama, SkillsUSA, etc

 

Portfolio Review and Interview process:

  • The scholarship committee will look at your portfolio submission and they will decide who to invite to an interview based on your portfolio.
  • If you are invited for an interview make sure to dress for success 
  • Demonstration Materials: You are free to bring in materials that represent your career field or to demonstrate to the committee something you have learned or participated in during the internship process/capstone class in your career.  All items must be able to be carried in and out by you.
  • Be prepared to answer questions about yourself, your portfolio, and career you plan to pursue. .

Applications are Due April 30th 2025

*If additional people need access to your portfolio that access will be requested through email. Please be prepared to check your email so that access can be granted in a timely manner.  Failure to provide access may affect the outcome of your application. 

*Also keep in mind that the interview will be booked with you via email shortly after the application deadline.

 

Feel free to reach out to any of your CTE teachers to have them review your portfolio before submitting. 

 

Notice:

Winners will receive a certificate at Senior Award Night and funding will be issued directly to the institution/program in which you are enrolled.

 

Scholarship amounts vary based on how many applications are submitted however in general there will be a potential of 5 to 10 scholarships awarded and each scholarship will be around $2000.00.

 

Some Careers that Qualify: 

Cosmetology, Nail tech, Welding, Construction, Plumbing, Electrical, Culinary Arts, Graphic design, Interior design, Fashion design, Auto, EMT, Pharmacy Technician, CNA, Medical Technicians, 2-year degree in Early Childhood education (childcare/daycare), Facilities management, medical recorder, HVAC, Animation, Heavy Machinery operator (CDL), Aviation, marine and land diesel, industrial mechanics, phlebotomy, medical assistant, medical lab tech, surgical tech, Computer technology.
